I think it was last summer when I saw this pattern online and I absolutely fell in love. I have a thing for christmas quilts, and christmas in general. And when Elizabeth Hartman comes out with a new pattern I (like most people) fall inlove instantly. Meet ‘Randolp and Rudy’, aren’t they amazing with their cute little ugly sweaters.

I bought the pattern sometime in the fall, but told myself I wouldn’t start it untill I’d had finished some of my WIPS. I really did not need to start another project. But thanks to my friend Mique I did start this one and had so much fun. I made the top in a weekend and had it quilted and added a binding within 2 weeks. So sometimes (or more often) I think it’s a good thing to just make what you love and don not punish yourself with older projects. You are the only one that decides if you need to finish one first, no one els can decide what you work on. How do you feel about this? Are you the kind of 1 project at a time quilter/crafter or do you have many projects in various states of almost finished? Let me know, would love to read other peoples experiences.

So after I gave myself ‘permission” to actually work on this project I went into my stash to find the perfect fabrics. For the background I used an ofwhite Art Gallery fabric with teal, pink and golden stars called Wintertale – Twinkle Little Stars. I choose brown and golden fabrics for the reindeers and bears. For the clothes I decided to stay pretty much within the colour range of the background stars, but added some green and blue to give it a bit more variety.
The solids are all Kona cotton from my stash and most of the prints are from the line Motley, by Giucy Giuce, my favourite designer, and I just love the colours and little scribbles in this line.

I quilted the top on a Bernina Q16, using an overal swirley with some addes stars in between. The swirls are free motion quilted and for the star I used a ruler by Silly Moon quilting, from the twinkle set.
For binding I went with a blue and purple diagonal stripe and then it was finished. I really loved working on this (for me) quick project. As you can read on some previous blogs, I have a few more patterns of Elizabeth Hartman laying around, so I should defenitely start working on the next one.

Thanks to the best quiltholder there is, aka my husband for helping me out with the photo shoot in the forest neareby.
